It’s like Wallace and Gromit has met Roald Dahl: Mott Green’s Chocolate world on Radio 4

Yesterday Radio 4’s Food Programme showcased the life of Mott Green and the fulfilment of his dream to both produce and transport chocolate in an ethical, sustainable way.

It’s a charming programme planned and mostly recorded shortly before his recent death, and includes Mott talking about falling in love with Grenada as a rebellious youth, setting up the factory and making the equipment by hand (including a winnower powered by a person on an exercise bike), the labour of love that led to him sleeping in the chocolate factory and the Tres Hombres sailing ship that carries his chocolate. There’s also commentary from people including Chantal, people he worked with in Grenada, and Vanessa Kimbell.

Listen to it here.
