I’d heard that this picture shows Chantal selling chocolate to her first customer, but it turns out that’s not entirely true.
“No, this was a film set,” she says.
“It was around 1984 and the Rococo shop on King’s Road was already open. My friend Nick Turvey, an artist and filmmaker, was making a film called Radio Dog and we decided it would fun to have me selling chocolate in the background as an extra. It was quite a surreal experience.
“Mark Prizeman, our architect, was acting in the film and he took this picture. Nick’s a sculptor now – he designed the amazing jellyfish chandelier in our Moxon Street shop.”
