Christmas is a time of year I always look forward to. At Rococo we’ve been busy behind the scenes planning our Christmas collection for months and this is the time we start to see all that hard work paying off with a beautiful new range of products for the festive season.
At home, on the First Sunday of Advent, I head down into the cellar to collect our stunning advent candlestick, a gift from Britta who does Rococo’s PR, by Charles Wilson for Panik Designs. It’s made of silver, which has become tarnished over the year, and the job of polishing it is handed to my husband James while I hunt for candles. Lighting the first candle always gets me in the festive mood.
As December approaches and the cold weather draws in the garden in our square starts to need a little extra care. I am first on a three line whip to take care of the fallen leaves.
Then it’s off to the Chelsea Physic Garden for the Christmas Fair. We are great supporters of the garden and have had a stall this weekend along with various other Artisan producers. It’s one of my favourite Christmas fairs as they have such a beautiful range of stalls and the atmosphere is lovely as everyone starts to look forward to Christmas.
Every year we also take our little Rococo Ape van to serve hot chocolate from. James and Richard, Rococo MD, did the honours this year to keep the shoppers warm, providing mini mince pies too, along with a little help from my daughter Millie.
As the day draws to a close we head home for the usual Sunday night activities of preparing for the coming week. I feed the family and organise my diary as December is shaping up to be another busy month.
