Why you cannot buy Rococo Chocolate in Japan

Chocolate in Japan

The directors of Rococo Chocolates Ltd (UK & EU registered mark) are extremely disappointed that after 8 years of trying to get the right to use the name “Rococo Chocolates” in Japan, much correspondence with Lotte the Korean confectionery giant, and finally having to apply to the courts to fight our claim, the judgement has come through in favour of Lotte. Japanese law has so far, in clear contradiction of international trademark and competition law and natural justice, protected Lotte from our efforts to win back the ROCOCO mark which they have not used since 1978 to sell chocolate, and only used very briefly in the 80s to sell a small range of ice-creams..

I’ve got some mates in Japan. We’ll start kicking up a fuss for you. (They don’t like a fuss in Japan…)
