I’m most certainly not suggesting that the packaging of a box of chocolates is more important than the contents. But when it comes to giving chocolates as a gift this year wouldn’t it be great to give chocolates that cause a gasp of excitement even before their lips of clasped the the chocolates? If you agree with me then here are some of my favourite chocolate retailers that give their creations an air of luxury.
I can think of no better place to start than with Rococo Chocolates. They’re yet to fully launch their Christmas range as yet, but, to my mind they offer the most artistic gift boxes. You’ve got the box in the shape of a Caffe, there’s a gift set of floral bars packaged wonderfully in a box with ribbon, there’s cute boxes of ganaches with a cat and dog on. You can choose large heart-shaped boxes full of on bons. It really is difficult to fault them on appearance.
But when it comes to flavour, well, you’re not going to expect me to say anything different are you? Of course they’re delicious. Laurent Couchaux does make some sublime ganaches and truffles – so you have nothing to worry about there. If you are looking to buy a luxurious Christmas present for your wife or mother then I can’t really recommend anywhere that has this non-commercial feel but is still readily available.
